Thanks for sticking with me as I explore all kinds of characters! Today, the letter C is brought to you by…
Cas from Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake.
Who doesn’t love a tortured, sensitive, ghost hunter?
Cas Lowood picked up his father’s knife after his dad’s grisly murder, and he hasn’t stopped killing ghosts since. It’s the job his father did, and Cas feels that he’s not only carrying on the family tradition, but he’s also getting strong enough to one day solve the mystery of his dad’s death. It’s just business, until he meets Anna.
Unlike any ghost he’s ever encountered, she’s aware that she’s dead, and she seems torn between a monstrous nature and the girl she once was. Cas’s determination wavers, and he lets his guard down. For the first time, he doesn’t complete a kill at the first opportunity, and he also opens to up kids in the town; that’s never happened before. Cas is changing, but will his new-found sensitivity be the death of all he holds dear?
