Welcome to the first day of the 2013 A-Z Challenge! This year, I’ve decided to spend the month with a host of characters from some of my favorite YA/MG novels (with a couple of adult classics thrown in for good measure.
Without further ado, I bring you…
Alexandria (Alex) from Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Alex is a half-blood. Her mother is pure demigod, and her father was mortal. There are two lives available to half-bloods: service to the Pures as Sentinels or Guards, or enforced slavery. Alex always planned to be a Sentinel, but three years ago, her mother pulled her out of the Covenant and went on the run.
Now Alex is back, seeking shelter after a brutal daemon attack on her mother. But nothing is what it seems, and Alex soon discovers that there’s so much more to the choices her mom made than she knew. As if that isn’t bad enough, Alex is falling –hard–for her Pure trainer, Aiden. It’s forbidden for Pures and Halfs to get attached to each other, but she doesn’t care. It’s not like there’s a remote possibility he’ll like her back…right?
Alex is a sassy, sharp character who’s sure to worm her way into your thoughts. Hooray for YA heroines who are flawed, snarky, and exciting! If you haven’t stumbled into this great YA Paranormal series yet, I hope you’ll read it soon. Blending Greek mythology with a contemporary setting, Alex’s story is impossible to put down.
